1st Day of Christmas (2) ... Family, Food. Friends & Fellowship

1st Day Christmas...Lunch
One thing that Christmas does is bring families together. Children come home from their workplaces be it from KL, Singapore or further and it’s good to have the entire family together.

The next generation
And also the children’s friends tag along sometimes instead of going abroad for that well-earned-once-a-year-jaunt.

1st Day .....Dinner
1st Beef Wellington
Big Bird
When families get together there will always be a feast to be had. It was no different at my place. It was lovely, delicious and scrumptious.

we are family.........

friends & family ...

Little did i realize that my house lacked the voices of young people and it was good to hear all parts of the home share that buzz even if was for a short while.

And for those that couldn’t make it home there was Facebook to keep in touch (above)

Merry Christmas.

Reliving That First Day of Christmas (1)

It’s a case of been there done that. Gone are the days of merrymaking and replaced by quiet reminder of history in reliving history in the birth of Jesus Christ.

Just like it happened 2000 years ago when the child Jesus arrived on that fateful night when he was greeted by the animals in the manger.

Unlike then the congregation this night welcomed his coming by joining in a presentation of ‘Candles by candles light’ led by Fr Patrick Masang where he reminded us of the Pope Francis’ message to think of the poor before the start of the mass.

Rejoice.....

Fourth Advent With CLOW – Children’s Liturgy of The Word

The last Sunday in Advent, the 4th Sunday in Advent was celebrated with CLOW - Childrens Liturgy of The Word, acting out the Gospel.

"Greetings favored one" the angel Gabriel said to Mary
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."

"Do not be afraid, Mary for you have found favor with God"
But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."

Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?"

The angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. And now, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her who was said to be barren. For nothing will be impossible with God."

Then Mary said, "Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.

And so we await the coming of the Saviour.

Christmas Carols at the Main Convent

Main Convent,110 years old this year
A night of Christmas carols that was held at the Main Convent chapel sounded so very nostalgic I had to check it out. Christmas, carols and chapels somehow sounded so made for each other.

The chapel, old design and very nostalgic

Additionally the Main Convent turned one hundred and ten years old this year.

The Choir

It was organised by the Convent Old Girls Association as part of
the Christmas season and as a fund raiser for the various charities they have planned for 2018.

They enjoyed the carolling
The OMPH Childrens choir was in attendance with help from “supporters” who did a splendid job of putting all who attended in the Christmas mood.

Merry Christmas

A Glow In The Park at ….. LAB Park

'Glow in the Dark'
Kinta Properties community program presented the residents of Bandar Baru Sri Klebang and Ipoh “Glow in the Park… a LAB Park” that features an experimental container park of lights, art and music for this festive season.

It’s a small park but the designers were creative to come up with something different such as the Christmas tree that blows bubbles or take a walk among Limitless LED lights or check out the shining reindeer.

Dome of Umbrellas
...Limitless LED's

...shining reindeers..
The park offers endless spots for the festive year end selfie-shot with the family or loved one.

Or have a snack with music to go with it
The park is open from Thursday to Sunday. 7pm till 11pm until January 7th 2018.

OMPH Church Celebrated 1st World Day of The Poor

PHDC members on the 1st World Day of the Poor
On the 1st World Day of The Poor Fr. Joseph Stephen together with members from the OMPH Parish Office of Human Development catered food for two hundred of their Parishioners.

Just as Pope Francis had provided lunch to the poor at the Vatican audience hall so too did OMPH PHDC provide food for the poor in the church hall.

Lunch was served as soon after Fr Joseph had blessed the food. Members dished out the food and began to serve those that came. Many showed up together with their family members.

There was no shortage of volunteers as they served the poor who readily enjoyed the meal.

A tray load of cup cakes and volunteers aplenty

...quiet appreciation
A volunteer had baked a tray of cupcakes which was offered for their desert.

But it dawned on the organizers that many were unable to attend as they didn’t have transport.

Realizing the situation members packed the food and made deliveries to their homes a gesture that was welcomed by the recipients with open arms.
