Anti Hopping Bill Passed - 28 July 2022

History was made today when the long awaited Anti Hopping bill was passed with 209 in favour none against and 11 absentees. I think that the country deserved this Bill which was long overdue.

Thumbs up was the mood in Parliment today.

Cendol Wawasan - Tasting Is Believing

One tub was too much for me so I shared

Tried this Wawasan Cendol for the first time today. I had always seen this stall with a long queue at lunch time and I hesitated to approach it.

Today I didn’t see a crowd so I bought some. It was cest manifique. I seldom eat Cendol but this was really good and on a hot afternoon too.

Looks delicious

I bought a tub and shared it. Mine was the Cendol Kacang. Then i noticed the crowd start to come in.

Always has a queue of customers

Wawasan Cendol located at Petron gas station at Bercam main road. Opens at noon daily.

Lou You Ji (LYJ) More Than Just A Food Court

LYJ has transformed itself into more than a food court

Lou You Ji Food Court in Bercham has since the start of the pandemic been transforming itself to more than just a food court.

in the Center Court ...

..south court an entertainment stage and

..the north court ..just a food court ..its that spacious

Within the span of just over a year it has become a sort of community center for those who preferred to while their time in the evening with like minded friends and being entertained with live music

Today they had some entertainers whom, i was told, were from Hong Kong. Well they attracted the crowds as early as 6pm. But a dinner appointment was calling and I made it back immediately after the 10 minute fireworks display at 1030pm.

The main event was all gone but the party goers were around and in force too.

The beer garden ...outside ALIVE after the main event was over

the snack stalls were still open

beer garden has its own service counter

a lively Friday nighter

LYJ will be around for quite a while and will cater to niche community.

in the car park ..for the overflowing patrons

Awesome ... Min Chee Nyonya Curry@Bercham

Another of my regularly sought out breakfast stalls in Ipoh that dishes out great food is Min Chee (or Lim Ji) Nyonya Curry  located at 893 Persiaran Bercham Timur 1, Bercham.

Unhealthily delicious ..don't the cockles look scrumptious and the siew yoke yumm

Their signature dish is curry mee with generous siew yoke and cockles/ kerang. It’s awesome but maybe for some it’s a lot of cholesterol.

.... dry curry noodles

Even their dry / korn curry noodles which is deliciously served in a thick film of curry is just as 'bad'.

Min Chee Nyonya Noodles ...

..starts daily at 7.30

pretty well organized ..take a number and wait ..for seating or  takeaway ...

...real clean and neat

BUT it is one stall to avoid during long holiday weekends because it would be packed with out-of-town customers and would it take too long to enjoy at breakfast time.

Ave Maria Convent School recently held a double celebration for their teachers and its retiring Principal Puan Liew Swee Fong which took effect in April this year.

The school hadn’t celebrated teachers day for two years so when the MCO was relaxed it was appropriate to celebrate with a double celebration.

I received an invite to this event and promptly responded as Ave Maria events are always interesting and a wonderful photo opportunity.

The evening began with Puan Liew Swee Fong walking down the red carpet with her husband Joseph Michael Lee followed by the other VIP’s joining them on the main table.

This was followed by the Ave Maria dance club performing. I was told that their traditional and latin dancers were in attendance that night.

Ave Maria Dance Club were wonderful

That’s how it went throughout the night. The ‘Swee Fong trio’ sang ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, the Teachers cut their cake and long service awards were presented.
