Ave Maria Convent Clinches Gold Award at International Music Festival

The winning performance at the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival themed 'MY Time MY Feel MYMind'
Ave Maria Convent have clinched a Gold Award at the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival that took place on 1st May 2019. The event was held at Fudan University on the 1st day of the Festival.


This good news was informed by Liew Swee Fong, Principal of SMJK Ave Maria Convent  who chaperoned a contingency of 86 students together with AMC teachers and the coaches of AMC Marching Band made up Mr. Kosin Suebprasitwong (Head Coach), Mr Krittanan Saksiri (Drill Designer/Marching Instructor), Mr. Pongpun Buabol (Brass Instructor), Mr. Ariya Sakunthongdee (Percussion Instructor), Mr. Supanat Teawtosakul (Color Guard Instructor) and Mr. Chalermpol Siripakorn (Show Adviser).

Liew when contacted said the girls led by Loi Yee Hui and Kee E-You sashayed to an astounding rendition of music and colour with guards twirling banners and rifles.

“The girls kept the Malaysian flag flying high and clinched the Gold Award.

It was indeed a very a proud moment for the girls as they had slogged hard for the past one year and transformed into a rhythmic marching band, reliving the school motto of the band ‘Rhythm on the March, Passion in the Heart.

Liew added that this event being a festival every day the members of the band played a series of performances at the Shanghai International Fashion Centre and the Hans Andersen Theme Park.

On an early but wet morning, at the Shanghai Fashion Centre despite the dangers of slipping or skidding on the wet floor, the girls braved the cold and put up a wonderful show for the visitors.

At Pudong with the Pearl Tower on the horizon the memory of the trip will be etched with our AMC Band girls for posterity.


The members are scheduled to return on 5th May.
