Seems this practice of 'enculturing" the Chinese culture into the local church was started many years before. However in Ipoh it has over the last few years been practiced more earnestly.

| Similarly the greetings by giving of 'gold' oranges and bowing to one another is part of the tradition |
The rite of commemorating the ancestors does not contradict the teachings of the church as it takes place after the Mass is over.
