We Shall Overcome – Malaysia Take 5th Placing.

Malaysia won against Japan 3 - 1
On the last day of the 26th Sultan Azlan Shah  Cup Malaysia put 3 in goals as against Japan’s solitary goal to finish in 5th place and Japan 6th.

Lo and behold that Malaysia did not end in last place as to do so would be unbecoming as the host of this 26th international hockey tournament.

Malaysia’s earlier game against Japan on the opening day saw them drawing 1 all with the Japanese.

This round Malaysia scored its first goal in the 8th minute through Haziq Samsul.

Firhan Ashari about to score Malaysia's second goal against Japan.
Then just 3 minutes later scored a second goal when Firhan Ashari picked up a pass from Fitri Saari and launched a powerful shot to take us up 2 nil.

Japan managed to score in the 28th minute through Kaito Tanaka but Faizal Saari sixth penalty corner put Malaysia 3-1 ahead.

Not the most spectacular of games but I am glad to say Malaysia came out well.

For the night Great Britain lifted the title this year beating Australia 4 -3 their second win after 23 years and India beat New Zealand 4 – 0 for the 3rd and 4th placing.
