He said that
he has been in contact with the departments of Land and Mines, Mineral and
Geoscience and Perak State Park and will wait for the full report before issuing
a statement.
He added
that it is the state government’s policy not to sacrifice the beauty of natural
environment but to preserve it.
Tan made the
statement at a Business Opportunity Seminar press conference last Saturday.
Gunung Lanno
situated in Simpang Pulai is one on the largest mountains in the Kinta Valley. It
is reported to have 36 documented limestone caves, is home to 7 of the 20
longest caves in the country and has unique attractions one of which is ‘crystal
caves’.
But Gunong Lanno has been in the news and social media
recently because it is in danger due to quarrying and mining activities which could
seal off all access these geoheritage wonders.
A recent quarry explosion affected Gua Air and defaced the cave.
