The Cultural Street Festival held on Jalan Maharajalela, Old Town |
Billed as a
Cultural Street Fest it lived up to its name and had all the elements of
Malaysian Culture - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Orang Asli, Sikh they were all there.
From top - a Malay martial arts display, Orang Asli handicraft and an Indian Peacock dance group. |
State
Tourism Chairman Tan Kar Hing has been repeatedly saying this was the new state
government initiative in trying to bring the communities together. Well he has
hit the nail on its head with SamaSama Ria.
As I walked around
the stalls I noted all the communities enjoying what was on display.
There was
one girl who obviously knew how read music trying her hand on the Gamelan. Another family was trying on
Indian dressing and wrapping his head in a turban and wearing a saree then took a photo, very basic but
so much fun.
But the
drawback was it was only for one night. On Facebook many said they didn’t know
about the event.
Very interesting and beautiful performance by young artists from 'One Piece Production' of Sekolah Seni Malysia, Perak |

Catch you
there.
