My Dracaena Fragrans Blossomed On the 1st Day of CNY2018

Dracaena Fragrans, taken the 1st night of  Chinese New Year
This is the Dracaena Fragrans that blossomed on the night of 16th February 2018 the first day of Chinese New Year 2018.

The leaves are glossy green ...

Above photo taken on 7th February
I week before the New Year on 7th I noticed some shoots had sprouted. This green plant has been around almost 20 years and provided shade and never ever flowered before.

Taken on 13th February
A few days later on 13 Feb it had begun to blossom. It looked nice and rather exotic.

It opened to a full bloom on 16th night
On the first night of CNY, 16 Feb there was a strong odour that wafted throughout the house. It was the Dracaena Fragrans.

The cluster of blooms .....
On checking Wikipaedia. This is what it said. Dracaena fragrans  (cornstalk dracaena) is a flowering plant species that is native throughout tropical Africa. Dracaena fragrans is a slow growing shrub, usually multi-stemmed at the base.

was 'highly fragrant', taken on 16th February night '
The leaves are glossy green. The flowers are produced in panicles 15–160 cm long, the individual flowers are 2.5 cm (0.98 in) diameter, with a six-lobed corolla, pink at first, opening white with a fine red or purple central line on each of the 7–12 mm (0.28–0.47 in) lobes and is highly fragrant.

Taken on 18th February@10.30am
On the 18th morning the some of the ‘lobed corolla’ looked about to dry and wither which did happen but by early evening was looking healthy again when the dried corolla had withered and a second batch appeared.

A second batch of corolla appeared, taken of 18th Feb at 3.30pm
By the 4th day on the New Year it had withered and I probably won’t see it again for the next 15 years.
