On the 2nd
Sunday of Advent the CLOW children dressed up in costume to reenact the gospel.
Children’s
Liturgy of the Word or CLOW is a ministry which each week “leads children to
know and love Jesus through the Word of God" said its chairperson Monica Dicom.
“On regular
days the readings and gospels are just read out and the facilitator will explain
the meaning to the children.
For this time of Advent the gospels are acted out by the children to make it more alive and real”.
The gospel
for 2nd Advent according to Mark begins with the appearance of John
the Baptist in the desert. We are invited to reflect upon the role of John the
Baptist, who prepared the way for Jesus and the salvation that he would bring
to us.
The main
character in the gospel is John the Baptiste and he was made up in his
character dressed in animal fur resembling a character who lived off the land.
He was
accompanied by two angels and a pair of ‘follower’s’ resembling the many crowd followers of John the Baptiste who were later baptized.
For the
following weeks of the 3rd and 4th Advent the children will be acting
out the gospels. Stay tuned.
