Chokodpok, (is
there such a word / name) Reggae (is this word foreign for Ipoh) House (CRH).
The voice of this guest singer attracted me to enter |
Mazwira (call me Wira) operates CRH with his brother Anaz |
Chokodok Reggae House is next to the Hugh Low Street Police Station |
Anaz, when he is not in the kitchen takes to performing music |
“One thing
led to another and Chokodok was set up. It’s a backpacker hostel with affordable
rates which operates a café after dark.
If the
backpackers need to visit Ipoh and the surrounding we oblige by taking them
where they want to go. It’s part of our service” said Wira.
The café opens
every evening. The serve the usual Malaysian and Western fare of ‘nasi goreng Apek”
and pizza but serve their drinks in buckets….you heard right, BUCKETS with a
straw provided.
The Menu. Drinks served in buckets |
If you think
the bucket is a little too local the bric-a-brac collection that makes up the décor
is well ….. just that.
The drink station below the loft |
If you feel
the need to smoke have a Hookah, that tobacco pipe with a long, flexible tube
that draws the smoke through water contained in a bowl. Yep this place has it
all.
Definitely this is a cool place and with cool music it will provide a brief respite from the bustle of the night.

Check it
