Yesterday
was the feast day of St. Alphonsus Ligouri, the Patron Saint of the Redemptorist.
Commonly
known as the Redemptorists, it is a worldwide congregation of the Catholic
Church dedicated to missionary work. In Ipoh the Church of Our Mother of
Perpetual Help belongs to this Order.
Yesterday a
mass was held to commemorate the event and concelebrated by Fr Robin Lomongkok
and Fr Paul Kee.
Yesterday
was also Fr Robin’s 1st year after being ordained a priest.
In his
homily Fr Robin said the message from St Alphonsus was that Gods love is available
to everyone, anyone and anytime.
“My
experience this past year, through the people who have journeyed with me, showed
me that Gods love is available to everyone”.
In thanking
the congregation Fr Robin said that one year is a long time and thanked the congregation
for their prayers and support saying one year is not an easy journey but I
tried my best to serve the people by making myself available.
Similarly Fr
Paul added the success of the Redemtorist was the secret of our availability to
others.
“It’s not
easy to be available all the time. We will continue to focus on being available.
That makes us unique and special and to be accessible and hospitable and most importantly
to be compassionate and understanding.
