Adrian Boudville – 2 Birthdays and A Golden Anniversary

Adrian celebrated his 80th birthday and Helen her 74th seen with their son Edmund
It was in late July when I received a call from Adrian Boudville inviting me to attend his 80th birthday as well as his Golden Wedding Anniversary.

On the day of the celebration another birthday was added that of Adrian’s wife Helen who would be celebrating her 74th birthday.

...followed by a kiss
....and another
Well the more the merrier as they say and it was just that with family and friends coming from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Singapore, UK, Australia and Sweden.

With Adrian and Helen, son Edmund who was the Master of ceremonies, his two children Ashley and Cedric and daughter Aileen it was a most joyous occasion.

Our families have been close. Adrian’s mother Marianne Boudville was my Godmother and even though their family members had settled in different parts of the world we kept in touch.

On occasions such as this all would return to Ipoh to celebrate on this event.

Joining to make the occasion auspicious was HH the Raja Muda of Perak Tuanku Jaffar and other old friends and ‘kakis’ of Adrian from his days with the automobile associations of the Royal Perak Motor Club and the Triumph Owners Club being present.

As the night wore on it began to resemble a Eurasian evening. With Brian Duorado at the microphone strumming the songs of yesteryear and the guests singing and dancing along to make it a wonderful night to remember.

the night carried on ...with Brian Duorado and guests singing ...
... and dancing

Que Sera Sera ......

The Knife Seller

This gentleman who sold knives or mainly pointed and sharp items like scissors.
Taken in the 80's at the lane parallel to Perak Emporium now Sew Cheong Corporation. Think they called it 'Thieves Market' then but now the Municipality shifted the place and calls the place 'Memory Walk' located at Horley Street.

SUKMA - 50 Gold Medal Target Can We Meet It

Perak had set a target of 50 Gold medals for SUKMA 19.

As at 5pm yesterday the tally was 30 gold and with the end of the games literally over a day away are we nearing the goal?

At the 2016 18th SUKMA held at Sarawak we garnered 12 gold and before that at Perlis for the 17th Games in 2014 games we managed 24 gold.

Our highest haul to date was at the 2002 games at Sabah where we scored 49 gold. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Perak Wins Gold At SUKMA Football

Muhammad Asyraaf runs overjoyed after scoring Perak's 2nd goal
Perak won gold at the SUKMA finals of football when Muhammad Asyraaf (no7 jersey) placed the second goal at the back of the net in the 71st minute and sealed the game for Perak.

Muhammad Asyraaf before and after the goal
I guess I have to thank Kedah’s Fadzrul Danel for scoring the 1st goal of the night at the 64th minute. The scoreless first half had made me lose focus till his goal made me sit up and concentrate but not fast enough for Perak’s equalizer three minutes later.

Half time & scoreless in a packed stadium filled with anticipation
That made me ready (thank goodness) for Perak’s second goal. The rest of the match which really was praying that Kedah would score again or as my neighbor sitting next to me would say ‘bahaya, bahaya’ each time Kedah was at the Perak goal box.

Bahaya, 'Red Shirts' Kedah in the Perak goal box
The rest is all about euphoria and for some agony.

they sang ...

jumped for joy ....
....while others could not get over it
other cheered in the stands...
on the ground ....
...in the changing room

all together as one .... Perak
We Are The Champions .

Wow! Kita Hebat.
