In Solidarity With Tasek Chini - A Never Ending Problem

This is Tasek CHINI today

This is Tasik Chini, the second largest fresh water lake in Peninsular Malaysia located in Pekan district Pahang.

It is one of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status sites in the country. It is a natural environment that has been used till abused and now deserves our attention.

It may be located in Pahang but to see it like this it is going the same way as our  limestone hills and forests in Perak. It has to stop and the authorities need to find solution to live with nature.

Lets stand in solidarity with Tasek Chini.

Tasek CHINI before

Two years ago the Pahang government gazetted an area measuring 4,498 hectares in Tasik Chini near here as a permanent forest reserve. This was followed with promises not to approve any new mining lease in the area around the lake and efforts to declare the country's second-largest freshwater lake as a state park.

But just last week it was reported that the state government has approved a new mining site about 3km from Tasik Chin prompting the question .. was the plan to revive the lake a paper promise.

Environmentalist and PEKA President (Malaysian Natural Heritage Protection Organisation)  Sabrina Syed  said there appears to be no end to the long-standing issues which include unregulated mining and logging activities.. the lake has been plagued by issues for quite a long time.. Tasik Chini is a dying lake and the issues can be only solved when we are sincere with efforts to preserve the lake.

We agree. Preserve the Lake.
