Howard Lee receiving his certificate from Datuk Chai, President of PCAH. |
Lee was the first
Malaysian and first from South East Asia to become the President of the International
Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY). He was elected since 2016.
Lee received
the certificate from the President of PCAH Datuk Chai Wang Yook.
IUSY is the
biggest political youth organization in the world, representing about 136
member organizations from more than 100 countries. It also has consultative
status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the United Nations’ central
platform for reflection, debate, and innovative thinking on sustainable
development.
Assistant
secretary of PCAH Yee Soo Ghee said Lee is the first political personality to
receive this recognition.
“Lee’s name was
recommended to the PCAH committee who discussed it and decided that he be
recognized for his achievement” said Yee.
The PCAH regularly
hands certificates of recognition to outstanding individuals from the Chinese
community in appreciation of their achievements in the areas of sports,
business, education, politics, history and culture.
Lee when
contacted said he was surprised to receive this ‘political achievement award”
from the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall on their 90th anniversary.
“It is a
great honour to receive this award with many of the Chinese compatriots who
have brought recognition to Perak, both at home and abroad”
