Theresa and Stan de Souza Celebrate 50 Years Together.

A toast to the Golden couple
Flowers for My Love
It was delightful evening celebrating the Golden Anniversary of Theresa and Stanley de Souza.

The evening saw lucky draw prizes and a sing-along sheet, with 12 songs where the lyrics were hand written mind you, made me enquire when Stanley started planning for the event.

“Almost a year earlier” was his answer.

True love certainly brings out the patience in the individual

Datuk Percy Mutthiah, an old friend of the family, before toasting to the couple said he knew Theresa from the 1960’s.

“Theresa was a famous singer who sang at VIP functions in Selangor while Stanley was an engineer from Penang who was working for a cruise liner.

They met when Theresa took a trip on one of his voyages. It was fated and they clicked and the rest is history”

The children of Stanley and Theresa serenaded them with the Anniversary song and showed slides during their courtship days.

Auld Lang Syne before the night ended
It was musical evening with the sing- along and the night ended with Auld Lang Syne and a fitting ADIOS by Stanley.

With This Ring ….

August seems to be a month of weddings and wedding anniversaries. I attended a lovely wedding last Saturday 5 2017 that of  Justin John Papu to  Abigail Kwang Cheng Yee.

The mother is Julie Papu (centre) whose son (left photo) was getting married.

Everyone was ready, both families, and on time including the guests

Simple yet beautiful it was as they went through the motions of the marriage rituals.

Since it your intention to enter into marriage join your right hand and declare your consent

...take this ring as a sign of my love and faithfulness

kiss the bride....

to the joy of the Parents....

Two families joined by marriage

We are family.

Congratulations to Justin and Abigail. All marriages such as this one are wonderful.

Hari Raya at Panglima Kinta Mosque

Panglima Kinta Mosque
I celebrated Hari Raya in a mosque for the first time. It was great for me because it was not just any mosque but Panglima Kinta Mosque, the oldest mosque in Ipoh.

The mosque is over 100 years old with interesting architecture, standing among the shop lots built by Yau Tet Shin in 1910. .

The interior, cooling and peaceful

As for the interior it is basic but wonderfully cooling and peaceful.

Tourists visiting the mosque are briefed by tour guides

The open house offered the usual delicacies that came with Hari Raya such as the lemang and rendang but here was included Nashid singing and a tour of the mosque by tour guide.

Mosque committee chairman Toh Muda Panglima Kinta Datuk Ab Wahab Azizul Hassan said the mosque was built in 1898 making it 119 years old.

"Built during the British colonial period it shared Moghul as well as neo-classical Greek and Roman architectural elements.

It cost 15,000 Straits Dollars to build in 1898. It is now gazetted as a heritage building.

Panglima Mosque is one of eight mosques listed under a Mosque Heritage trail. It was included on tourist itineraries since October last year and some 2,000 tourists have visited the mosque since then.

Some of the Perak mosque's on the trail are the Indian Muslim Mosque (built in 1908), Kampung Paloh Mosque (1912), Ubudiah Mosque Kuala Kangsar (1917), Pakistani Mosque (1930).
