Taman Kemuncak Residents Succeed In Stopping Illegal Farm

Residents of Taman Kemuncak, Ipoh Garden East have succeeded to stop an illegal farm in their neighborhood when the Perak District and Land Office placed a notice of ‘unlawful occupation’ at the said location.

The notice came about after several alerts to authorities. It was dated 15 February 2019 and required the ‘illegal farm’ to vacate the area immediately.

The farm is located along the hillside running parallel to Persiaran Perajurit 1 and Dataran Perajurit 1.

A resident Dorothy Ang said that YB Jenny Choy, the assemblywoman for Canning, visited the neighborhood with staff from District and Land office a week before Chinese New Year to check on the situation first hand.

Ang said last month in January the ‘farm’ began bringing in accessories and tools, concrete-well rings, water pipes and plastic containers and durian seedlings to the ground.

“They cleared trees using a bulldozer and dug up the ground to use as a pond. We suspected that they planned to start a durian orchard”

Another resident Loi Yew Kee said now that the notice is up we hope the 'farmer' will clear the field as soon as possible.

“We especially feel the pond be covered soonest possible as it could pose a health hazard. Now it is for the 'farmer' to remove the hazards”

All the residents expressed their thanks to YB Jenny Choy for bringing the matter up to the District and Land office and helping secure the notice to vacate.

  2. Some people think they can do whatever they want on gov land and think it's none of anybody's business. The land office should go after the person concerned and take the appropriate action to deter similar illegal activities in the future.
