The Knife Seller
This gentleman who sold knives or mainly pointed and sharp items like scissors.
Taken in the 80's at the lane parallel to Perak Emporium now Sew Cheong Corporation. Think they called it 'Thieves Market' then but now the Municipality shifted the place and calls the place 'Memory Walk' located at Horley Street.

SUKMA - 50 Gold Medal Target Can We Meet It
Perak had
set a target of 50 Gold medals for SUKMA 19.
As at 5pm yesterday the tally was
30 gold and with the end of the games literally over a day away are we nearing
the goal?
At the 2016 18th
SUKMA held at Sarawak we garnered 12 gold and before that at Perlis for the 17th
Games in 2014 games we managed 24 gold.
Our highest haul
to date was at the 2002 games at Sabah where we scored 49 gold. Keeping our
fingers crossed.

Muhammad Asyraaf before and after the goal |
I guess I have
to thank Kedah’s Fadzrul Danel for scoring the 1st goal of the night
at the 64th minute. The scoreless first half had made me lose focus
till his goal made me sit up and concentrate but not fast enough for Perak’s equalizer
three minutes later.
Half time & scoreless in a packed stadium filled with anticipation |

19 Sept At SUKMA Mens Relay
Men's Relay ..... looked like the Sabahans (wearing black) were way ahead of the competition all the way.
And So The Journey Continues
(1st photo) Derek Leong a year ago and now playing in SUKMA |
A year on the
journey isn’t over but Derek is currently playing in SUKMA 2018 in the position of
striker for the Perak football team.
Before going
abroad Derek represented Perak in the President’s Cup, a developmental football
competition in Malaysia for the under-21 players.
At City
University Hong Kong where he is studying Psychology he represents the
University playing football.
Several
months ago Derek got a call in Hong Kong inquiring if he was interested to play
in the SUKMA for Perak. Without hesitation he said yes.
“Playing
football has always been my passion. It's like a form of therapy for me as I
get to clear my mind from any troubles when I'm on the pitch. Also the passion
stems from my father who also has a lot of interest in the sport.
We had to go
for trials and selection. That took more than 2 months before the squad was finalized.
He said being selected to play for the state was
an honour and is very grateful for being given the opportunity to do so.
Derek Leong wears No 16 |
What’s next? After Sukma its back to Hong Kong to resume my studies for my 2nd year of study.
