Battle-Ground Tebing Tinggi
This was the
Ceramah at Tebing Tinggi last Friday 12 April 2018.
Pakatan Harapan lights up Tebing Tinggi ....
It started
at 730pm with a crowd probably amounting to 500 but by the end of the night the
crowd overflowed to 3500 or more.
The crowd at 8.30pm .....
...an hour later it had grown ....
.... and the crowd swelled.
Tebing
Tinggi was a Chinese majority seat but has since become a Malay majority seat
due to the recent re-delineation
A statement
posted on DAP’S Wong Kar Woh Facebook page said “Pengkalan / Station 18 will be
our actual battle ground in this coming election. Tebing Tinggi has become a
57% Malay majority seat after re-delineation.”
I was
pleasantly unsurprised to find Professor Abdul Aziz Bari, in the crowd for the first time and he was inadvertently
introduced by Ong Boon Piow, the current Adun, as the candidate to replace him.
Ong Boon Piow takes to the microphone ....
and inadvertently introduces Abdul Aziz Bari as his replacement ...
I had
checked later and was told that the announcement was unofficial as yet. But
with a Malay majority constituency it seems the way to go. It was very gracious
of Ong Boon Piow to make way for Abdul Aziz Bari though.
the banner adorning the Tebing Tinggi Operations Centre
Well it
seemed to be true as when they switched on the light to introduce the new
Tebing Tinggi operations room there he was on the poster, Abdul Aziz Bari
posing with Mahathir and Wong Kah Woh.
It was a
good night with the emcees, a Chinese and Malay kept reminding the crowd ‘to
mark the eye’ on ballot day.
A good night with.Hew Kuan Yau...the audience loved him
Followed by Nga Kor Meng, the last speaker for the night .....
The speakers
included former MB Nizar Jamaluddin, Jenny Choy, Howard Lee, Hew Kuan Yau and
that charismatic figure Nga Kor Meng as the last speaker.
...started his address at 11pm ....
....and held the attention of the crowd
Nga began
speaking at 11pm but the crowd stayed with him. Hmmm, can we really gauge a party’s
popularity by their audience’s presence.
