Like the Chinese woman laying out fish to dry in the sun with her worn hands tell the story of long years of toil under the sun or the industry that was the mainstay of the Kinta Valley but not any anymore, tin mining.

With Ipoh
undergoing so much change these last five years it was nice to see some photographs
that would take us back to what it used to be. Furthermore FIP images are clears
and detailed in that it really tells a story with just one picture.

Its
President Thomas Chai said the club was started by a group of photographers twenty
seven years ago led by Au Kam Wah. Currently it has more than a hundred members
though only half of them are really active.

The club had
been hosting an event each year either an exhibition or competition. Their
event this year was a two day photo exhibition with the theme “Malaysia Negaraku” and came with a competition and two slide shows included.

Fifty six participants
took part with each having to submit three photos each reflecting on the theme
be it culture, identity, nature and lifestyle.
The event held
at STG Café Oldtown was well patronized on both days and was a great exhibition.
