August 31 ... At Home At An Orang Asli Kampong

Nothing special just a natural setting at an Orang Asli home. ..

.traditional dress, traditional make up and head gear adorned with flowers and natural smiles. Beautiful

I celebrated Merdeka early this year. When August 31 came around I stayed home preferring the quiet weekend I had earlier in the jungle at Batu 14 Jalan Pahang Tapah.
I think I preferred the nature and greenery that reminded me of old Malaysia.

Merdeka Merdeka Merdeka. Note Pak Ayob at the back

(left Photo) Pak Ayob with Zaini and grandchild Jered jr. Happy smiling children

It was an orang asli village belonging to Pak Ayob and his wife Zaini. Ayob had arranged for his grandchildren and their friends to meet us for a photo shoot.

Nice setting, outer design ....

It was all very well done but what was more interesting was his kampong where he stayed or rather the design of his houses and layout.

There were 2 houses belonging to Ayob and his son. Both were done very tastefully with traditional just plain orang asli styling. It was great for the photo shoot

....inner design...a cozy setting

...and neat surroundings

Ayob's son house behind the children is within the same compound ......

An elder preparing the children for the photo shoot

With the kids around us painted in traditional colours it was so nostalgically Malaysian.

Ayob's sons house, side view

Home grown snacks offered during our visit

Pak Ayob with the guest ...it was a most memorable visit

There was so much changing around us but it’s nice to remember the old days once in a while.

Playground (4). Off To The Jungle

We were on the way to our destination ... the kampong of Pak Ayob

It's at Batu 14 Jalan Pahang plus another 900 meters over the Sungai Batang Padang

we were under surveillance by the residents of the kampong

it was an 'arduous' walk to his humble abode

but the walk there was amazing ...so much of nature to view...an alien?

a fern ???

this mak chik collecting 'daun' wanted to show me the way but i wanted to snap photos.

so quiet and peaceful ... smell the air

another savior but .....

..amazing the tree is so tall ....

'we just love it to bits....'

Our destination and a pre-Merdeka function ... performers getting ready

Perak Playground (2) Lata Iskandar Waterfall & (Local) Business Centre

Who would have thought that a waterfall could attract a business community. But with the right infrastructure it can support the local community.

The beauty of its attraction draws all kinds of nature lovers..no matter what age ...

couples and kids too

some businesses love to just be close or hug the river ...
guess it gives them a sense of belonging

..and the 'business centre' ..... you could drive thru in a minute but
surprisingly we took twenty five minutes

all local produce ....

...well almost all are local

My Perak My Playground (1) The Cameron Highland Cycling Circuit

Ray with friends and colleagues at Lata Iskandar waterfalls

Perak is the best state of the whole of Peninsula Malaysia. It’s got hills with caves and extinct fossils, rivers and waterfalls that excite, ex tin mines and estates and a long shoreline that stretches from Penang to Selangor with 2 great islands . Well the islands were better earlier but still great….in short a fantastic all round playground for everyone.

Ray from Simpang
Pulai...
All of its citizens love to show off their playground ie the state of   Perak. Some of them also invite their colleagues to visit and show off   their playground. Like this guy Ray from Simpang Pulai.

Ray works in Johore Bahru. He invited his colleagues to spend the   weekend hanging out in his hometown Simpang Pulai and while here   he would show them around.

Boy did he show them around. Ray took them for a 180Km round   trip cycle ride from Simpang Pulai up to Cameron Highlands via the   Tapah using the old road Jalan Pahang and completing the circuit via Brinchang / Pos Slim and back home.

‘The whole circuit takes only about 8hours including stopovers’ said Ray nonchalantly when I asked the duration of the journey.

...stopover for a break .... then

...about to take off again

Wow that’s an ordeal on the derriere. Well it can be painful but sightseeing in this beautiful state is wonderful.
