Day3 MCO - State Mosque Is Closed....

Gates closed...Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque 

The gates to the Perak State Mosque or the Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque was closed this Friday afternoon at 12pm. 

Is this the first time it is closed since August 1968 when it was first built. 

All this was due to the precaution against spreading the Covid19 virus and this MCO (Movememt Control Order). 

The surrounding were just as quiet.

18 March: Day 1 Of MCO (Movement Control Order) In Ipoh - Quick Drivethru

At Canning Garden shops ..... only the food shops were open 

Did a quick drive through on day 1 of the MCO yesterday around 5pm. Just checked out the usual busy places that i was familiar with. Started with the Canning Garden shops. Found the diners open ....

waiting for customers....at the Hollywood junction   ...

...but were waiting for customers. Maybe i went out too early to catch the dinner crowd.

On Tambun Road 

Onwards to town. Tambun Road (Jln Raja DiHilir) was sparse with a smattering of vehicles ....

.....all the way through.

Jalan Panglima  ...

Headed to Jalan Panglima and towards Concubine Lane. It followed orders and was shut.

Spotted some murals i had not seen before

......then back to Brewster Road ....which was just as deserted ...

....and so too was the Polo Ground ....with only a dozen senior citizens doing exercise walks alone and all spread out not clustered.

Verdict: All in order. Can it be maintained. We'll see. 

The most frequent people who passed by the whole way was the Grab, Food Panda and Runner food delivery guys. Thankfully there was a service that took care of the stay-at-home rakyat.

Covid19: The Last Mass At OMPH Church Before 2 Week Suspension

The last Mass on 13 March before the 2  week suspension

Attended the last Mass before the 2 week suspension ie  ‘All weekend and weekday public masses will be suspended from 14th of March to the 29th of March 2020’.

This was in line with the Ministry of Heath directive to suspend all gatherings to prevent the spread the Corona19  Pandemic following which the Bishops of Peninsula Malaysia came out with a Pastoral Letter announcing the 2 week suspension.  

Any weddings or funerals are to be conducted privately with guests limited to immediate family members and close friends. 

Weekend and weekday masses will be broadcast live and the link and times are given as below.

The Pastoral Letter also declared that the 19th of March 2020, Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, protector of the Church, be designated as a day of prayer and fasting to invoke Saint Joseph’s intercession and God’s intervention for an end to this crisis.

After A Long Week Of Confusion - And It Ain't Over Yet

Quo Vadis - after a long week of shenanigans

Its been a long week. From last Sunday's 'Sheraton Move' dinner till this Sunday at the Istana when Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed Prime Minister. 

Yes Muhyiddin. Not Mahathir and not Anwar by a long shot.
Its been exhausting trying to keep up. But that's our very 'matured"  Malaysian politics. 

Hopping, Statutory Declarations, Resignation,  Comebacks, Setbacks, Backdoor Govt we did it all this week and selected a PM too. Too bad if the appointed PM isn't your 1st or 2nd choice. 

While the whole world was trying to keeping Covid-19 at bay Malaysians were watching the shenanigans of political parties.

But it ain't over yet ... get a good nights rest and be ready for Monday March 2 to start again.
