1st Class Bus Terminal But ……

Ipoh’s Amanjaya Bus Terminus is a beautiful building. It began operations in 2014 and generally it is very functional .

Passenger incoming and outgoing is very streamlined and generally it is a breeze.

BUT… it is lacking in basic maintenance that it looks shabby. Isn't this tape. Should it be replaced or better still replaced with tiles.

...this had trees at the beginning.......now its an ashtray if smokers aim accurately

............across the other side of the entrance its the same ...shabby

And it could do with a large dose of LANDSCPING (wouldn’t that be a plus point)

And a bit of daily maintenance would go a long way to making it a garden and a welcoming sight when visitors disembark from the bus.

....shabby

don't they employ a kebun

Alas to dream of it. Come to think of it the whole of Meru Raya could do with some landscaping but that’s for another article.

A Walk Back In Time

Perak Women for Women Society presented a charity concert in conjunction with International Women’s Day entitled ‘A Walk Back in Time, the Glorious Years of Hong Kong Cantopop”.

Kam Fatt and Angela Saik

It was a splendid show which lived up to the billing especially with singers Angela Saik and Kam Fatt who took us back in time.

But what really enthralled me was the concert by PSPA  “Butterfly Lovers".

The story was beautifully arranged and the costumes were well designed.

7 Heavenly Maidens wander into the human world
...with Honey Bees, Flower Angels and Bumble Bees
Butterfly Lovers tells the story of the Daughters of the Jade Emperor, the Seven Heavenly Maidens who wander into the human world.
Zhinu (R) falls in love with NiuLang (L)
One of the Heavenly Maidens, Zhinu falls in love with the filial son NiuLang who gets married and has children.NiuLang does not know that Zhinu is a fairy.

When the Jade Emperor hears of this misdeed, in anger he commands his daughter to return to Heaven.

Lady Milky Way
NiuLang tries to enter Heaven but the Empress separates Heaven and Earth with the Milky Way.

Every night NiuLang looks to the Heavens with great sadness while the Seventh Fairy pines for her Love and children.

Lady Milky Way calls her Magpies.....
......to form a 'red bridge' on the 7th Day of the 7th Month each year
Lady Milky Way felt sorry for them and once a year on the 7th Day of the 7th Month she would tell the Magpies to form a beautiful “red bridge” across the Milky Way so the couple could meet.

The Heavens gave their Children to childless couples.

Zhinu's daughter Yingtai falls in love with Lian Shanbo
Zhinu‘s daughter Yingtai grew up clever and beautiful and fell in love with Lian Shanbo, her best friend and classmate. But their love was doomed from the start because Yingtai was promised to a rich merchant.

On her wedding day Yingtai went to Shanbo's grave and wept. The Seventh Fairy could not bear her daughter suffer a similar fate and appealed to Lady Milky Way for help. Lady Milky Way opened the earth and Yingtai threw herself into Shanbo’s grave.

7th Fairy, Zhinu asks Lady Milky Way for help.

7th Fairy weaves a pair of Butterfly for the lovers
The Seventh Fairy weaved a pair of beautiful butterfly for each of the young lovers and they flew away to live happily ever after in the Enchanted Garden,

...and they lived happily ever after.
A truly charming ending to this Chinese “Rome and Juliet”.

Elaborately designed costumes.

Bravo
PSPA gets better with each production and this was another delight. Bravo.

A Convincing Win

Malaysia. Asian Rugby Champion Division 1 title winner.
It is nice to see Malaysia win for a change.

When we took the score 10- 9 with a leap in the second half

Sprinting with the fans cheering him on
Yes we came out tops in the Asian Rugby Championship Div 1 when we beat Sri Lanka 22-9 in a real exciting game whereby Malaysia had to literally claw its way to the win.

Malaysia had to give it all it had against Sri Lanka who put up a stiff resistance all throughout the match.

Granted the 1st half was slow with Malaysia trialing 9 -5. But we put paid to that when Malaysia reversed it 10 – 9 that was when we took off.

It was non-stop clawing every minute of the remaining time till we won the game 22- 9.

The home crowd just loved it every time Malaysia got their hands on the ball the crowd just urged them on.

HRH Sultan Nazrin presented to the Champion while Datuk Seri Zambry presented to runner up Sri Lanka.
It was a great game, fast, rough and exciting. Best of all it was held at the Ipoh Padang, an international standard competition, something we haven’t had in quite a long while.

Oh what a joy!

Asian Rugby Championship – Held In Ipoh

The Asian Rugby Championship 2017 Division 1 will be held at the Ipoh Padang, Ipoh from the 14th  to the 20th of May next week.

I discovered this when I inquired what was going on at the Padang yesterday. Workers were seen preparing for the event and unloading pipes and media equipment at the padang.

What really caught my eye were the tyre-tracks on the field and the white patches of sand indicating the field had been compromised.  The event is for a week so hopefully the field is fine after the event.

The countries in Div 1 taking  part are Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.

Below are the fixtures of the event.
