3rd August 2010 - Perak State Assembly Sitting

Next Tuesday 3rd August 2010 the Perak State Assembly will sit again. Hopefully some work will get done (properly) and that all of the 'oppositions' questions are answered.

As usual the Pakatan team met recently and requested that "Speaker Ganesan" conduct the meeting according to the House standing orders.......

...flashback....at the 3rd meeting held on March 30 " legal speaker Sivakumar" from Tronoh claimed that that "Speaker Ganesan" failed to follow the orders accordingly .......

...and promptly displayed the standing orders... (pls click on pages 11 and 12 to enlarge and view the order in which the meeting has to be conducted)

For next weeks meeting "speaker Sivakumar" has presented the following points as to how he wants the sitting to be conducted....
1) allocate 4 days for the meeting
2) answer all questions ( both written and oral)
3) conduct the meeting per the standing orders
4) no police in the house
5) media to be allowed in the Dewan
6) public be allowed to view the proceedings
Also assemblymen be allowed to bring in their laptop, video recorder etc (its allowed in parliment!!!). Apparently "Speaker Ganesan" has banned these electronic appliances from entering the hall next week. This next request is funny (that it had to be requested)...a single route for ALL assemblymen entering the hall..(obviously referring to previous sittings where BN followed route B and opposition route C etc)

..hopefully "the Speaker" does follow the standing orders accordingly on 3rd August as YB KM Nga has brought up a relevant point about DS Zamby requesting for additional funding amounting to RM80 million and explaining only 'generally' what it will be used for...RM30 million for general miscellaneous services and RM50 million for grants to statutory funds.... in this period where even our PM is telling us to adjust our lifestyle ......well i'd like to know if my state government leaders have done their part and upgraded their style of work per the rakyat's expectations.
